| The Vwira HIV/AIDS & TB Community Based Organisation of Luwinga is a grass roots organisation helping people infected by and affected by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. Vwira works with most groups affected by HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. One group that they especially focus on that you do not often hear about is the elderly. In the developing world, elderly people are financially supported by their children - that is one of the reasons that they have so many. Not many of the elderly population are infected by HIV. Instead AIDS is killing off the generation of their children. So we are left with a new population of people too old to work who have lost all of their children to AIDS and tuberculosis. |
